How CiteCount handles data, cookies, and analytics
At CiteCount, your documents stay on your device. All word-count computation (including citation exclusion) runs locally in your browser; we do not collect or store your text or citations on our servers.
1. Information We Collect
Anonymized Analytics Data
We use privacy-minded analytics (Google Analytics and LiteAnalytics) to understand how the site is used. Data points may include page views, visit duration, device/browser type, approximate location (country/region), and referral source. We do not tie this data to your document content.
Cookies and Tracking
Analytics cookies help us measure usage. You can manage or disable cookies in your browser or via our cookie settings (see the Cookies Policy). Disabling analytics will not affect core functionality.
Local Storage
Your preferences (e.g., theme) and AutoSave content are stored locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
User-Provided Content
Text you input for counting is processed entirely in the browser and never sent to our servers.
2. How We Use Analytics Data
- Monitor and improve performance and reliability.
- Understand navigation patterns to enhance usability.
- Measure adoption of new features.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or trade personal data. Anonymized analytics data is processed by Google Analytics and LiteAnalytics under their respective privacy policies.
4. Your Choices and Rights
- Control cookies in your browser or via our cookie settings (see Cookies Policy).
- EU/EEA residents may exercise GDPR rights (access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability) for analytics data; contact us for requests.
5. Security
Because document processing stays on-device, your content is not transmitted to our servers. For analytics data, we rely on security controls provided by our analytics vendors, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will post the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes signifies acceptance.
