💡 Pro Tip: Learning keyboard shortcuts can dramatically speed up your workflow. Start with the most common ones (Bold, Settings, Save) and gradually add more to your muscle memory!

Text Formatting

Apply formatting to selected text in the editor:

Action Mac Shortcut Description
Bold + B Make selected text bold
Italic + I Italicize selected text
Underline + U Underline selected text
Strikethrough + Shift + X Strike through selected text
⚠️ Note: Some browsers may override these shortcuts for their own functions. If they don't work, use the formatting buttons in the toolbar instead.

Application Controls

Quick access to CiteCount features and settings:

Action Mac Shortcut Description
Open Settings + , Open Settings modal
Close Modal Esc Close any open modal/overlay
Save (AutoSave) + S Manually trigger save (if AutoSave is enabled)

Text Editing Basics

Standard text editing shortcuts that work in the CiteCount editor:

Action Mac Shortcut Description
Select All + A Select all text in editor
Copy + C Copy selected text
Cut + X Cut selected text
Paste + V Paste from clipboard
Undo + Z Undo last action
Redo + Shift + Z Redo last undone action
Find in Page + F Open browser's find dialog

Navigation

Move around text quickly without using the mouse:

Action Mac Shortcut Description
Start of Line + Jump to beginning of line
End of Line + Jump to end of line
Start of Document + Jump to beginning of document
End of Document + Jump to end of document
Next Word Option + Move cursor to next word
Previous Word Option + Move cursor to previous word

Selection

Combine navigation shortcuts with Shift to select text:

Select to Line Start + Shift + Select from cursor to start of line
Select to Line End + Shift + Select from cursor to end of line
Select to Document Start + Shift + Select from cursor to document start
Select to Document End + Shift + Select from cursor to document end
Select Next Word Option + Shift + Select next word
Select Previous Word Option + Shift + Select previous word
💡 Pro Tip: You can also click and drag to select text, or double-click to select a word, triple-click to select a paragraph!

Browser Shortcuts

Standard browser shortcuts that also work in CiteCount:

Action Mac Shortcut Description
Refresh Page + R Reload CiteCount (saves first if AutoSave enabled)
Hard Refresh + Shift + R Clear cache and reload
Zoom In + + Increase browser zoom level
Zoom Out + - Decrease browser zoom level
Reset Zoom + 0 Reset zoom to 100%
⚠️ Note: Browser zoom affects the entire page. For just changing the text size in the editor, use Settings → Font Size instead.
